Aijalon will always be in our hearts; what an amazing, wonderful young man he was. We pray for his mother, the family members, and friends to be not continually saddened as he rests in eternal peace, but to find comfort & strength in the beautiful memories that were shared. May God bless and keep you all as Aijalon's love forever remains in your hearts!

Aijalon- my dear Brother-in-Christ, I am still in shock and sorry that, too many years passed since we last communicated. I enjoyed and will always cherish the Sunday mornings we did praise and worship together at New Canaan. You were and always will be a beautiful humble man of God. I am missing your infectious smile that could light up any room you entered and pray you knew that you were a bright and shining star loved by many. May we all continue to rejoice in the Lord, of whom you loved so dearly, as we support each other over the loss of your young life.

Aijalon was my student at Bowdoin College—and an amazing and beautiful person. He always had an original thought to bring to the rest of us—and he moved in the world with an extraordinary openness and grace for all that he had lived and endured. He was a writer of considerable power, and he wrote many pages of a personal narrative while at Bowdoin, reflecting on and making meaning of his life. In his senior year, he did an independent study course in theatre—and presented one of the most memorable solo performances I have ever seen. He was so agile in body and spirit. The piece that he created that spring flowed with his searching intelligence as he reflected on identity and culture. He came back to Bowdoin a few times after graduation, but I was shocked when I read about his being held in North Korea—and I prayed for him with all my heart during that time. He deserved the kindness and caring he received in the intervention of Jimmy Carter to bring him home. I cried and rejoiced when I heard that he had been freed. Aijalon and I had a meal together at a bakery here in Brunswick, Maine, after he had been home for a while. I know that experience still weighed heavily on him, but I admired profoundly the spiritual and philanthropic commitments that he made with his life and the strength he was gathering in that. I join with so many who are beyond heartbroken to see him leave this world too early. He lived with an intensity and power that were beyond measure—and I now think of him still shining with a brightness of being that exists beyond time and space. My prayers go out for his family and friends to find comfort and strength in this difficult time.
