Beloved Matriarch Mrs. Ruby Lee Higginbottom departed her earthly life on Friday, November 29, 2019, in Needham, Massachusetts.
Originally from Gloster, Mississippi, she was the loving daughter to Jim Burris and Lizzie Macpipe, both of Mississippi. After leaving Mississippi at the tender age of 5, she was raised with welcoming arms by Willie R. Williams (Nana Willie). Being raised with love and compassion is why Ms. Ruby became who she was.
She was a known pillar in the community as the "Neighborhood Mom", she took care of everyone with a strict but loving hand. She was the beloved mother to ten children and fostered almost a hundred. She was a caring and loving woman and mother. If you were from her neighborhood you would remember her packing up the camper and heading to the grocery store with all her children and anyone else who wanted to ride.
Known by several names like Ma, Ms. Ruby, RubyLee, Nana Ruby either way, everyone knew and respected her. She will be sorely missed, her memories will impact her entire family for generations to come.
In her legacy she leaves her children: Elder Anthony Burris (Debbie), Weena Burris, LaTonia Burris, Vanessa Higginbottom, David L. Higginbottom Jr., Felisha Johnson, Sunseray Burris, Lakeida Burris, Tony Burris, Travonnie Burris and Preshus Princess Elliot. She was blessed to have twenty four grand children and a host of great grands, nieces, nephews and countless foster children that entered her home and became part of her family.
Predeceased by her two loving sisters Lessie Mae and Mary Alice.
