Adelina Alves, of Brockton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, family, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Adelina was born on April 15, 1938, in Fogo, Cabo Verde, to the late Severino Couto Lopes and Ana Alves. She was a woman of remarkable strength, compassion, and love—a true nurturer who devoted her life to caring for the people she loved. Her heart was always open, and she had a special way of making those around her feel valued, welcomed, and deeply loved.
Family was the greatest treasure of Adelina’s life. She was a devoted and loving mother to Maria De Lurdes Alves, Ana Alves, Maria De Fatima Rodney, Antonia Brandao, Josefina Xavier, Maria Da Conceicao Xavier, and Belmiro Jorge Xavier. Her children were a source of immense pride and joy, and she dedicated herself to guiding, supporting, and loving them through every season of life.
Adelina’s love continued to grow through the generations. She was a cherished grandmother to Filomena Muthu, Benjamin Moreno, Pedro Pereira, Ana Rita Muniz, Ialine Borges, Rito Monteiro, Claudia Tavares, Dilma Alves Pina, Ricardo, Manuel, Fabio, Clara, Rubem Spencer, Laura, Catarina Moreira, Pedro, Alexandre Tavares, Charles Tavares, and Maria Joao Moreira, along with nine other beloved grandchildren in her home country of Cabo Verde.
She was also blessed with 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, each of whom brought her immense happiness and gave her countless reasons to smile. Her love for her family knew no boundaries or distance. Whether near or far, she carried each of them in her heart.
Adelina will also be lovingly remembered by her dear siblings: Idalina, Djonzinba, Milia, Txubinha, Marcia, Maria Agusta, Cumpa, Sezar, Cando, Ana, Minguinha, Inocencia, Benvindo, Txuquinha, Djodji, Joaquim, Miguel Angelo, Diminguinho, Amancio, Arcinda, Santa, and May.
Throughout her life, Adelina was a source of strength and comfort to those around her. She was the kind of person whose love could be felt in the simplest moments—in the care she gave, the meals she prepared, the stories she shared, the prayers she offered, and the warmth she brought into her family’s lives. She gave of herself generously and never hesitated to make sacrifices for those she loved.
Her home was a place where family could gather, where there was always room for another person, and where love was never in short supply. She nurtured not only her children, but generations that followed, leaving behind values and traditions that will continue to be passed down.
Though Adelina’s passing leaves a deep and painful void, her family can take comfort in knowing that her love will never leave them. She lives on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchild, siblings, relatives, and friends. She lives on in the memories they share, the traditions she helped create, and the love she planted so deeply in the hearts of those around her.
She leaves behind a host of other beloved relatives and dear friends who will miss her dearly and remember her with great affection.
Adelina’s life was a gift to her family. Her greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely and the family she nurtured with unwavering devotion.
She may no longer be with us in person, but the love she gave will remain forever. Her memory will be carried from generation to generation, from Brockton to Cabo Verde and everywhere her family calls home.
Rest peacefully, Adelina. You were deeply loved, you are profoundly missed, and you will never be forgotten.
