Adelle Mae Hartgrove made her transition from our world on November 23, 2025. Adelle was born on October 30, 1955, to the late Frank Dickson and Dorothy Dickson.
The middle of 5 children, Adelle was preceded in death by her brother Paul and sisters Laura and Renee.
Adelle attended Girl’s High School in Roxbury, where she made many friends and created lasting memories through various activities which included sports and music. Following her high school graduation she attended Northeastern University. It was here where her love for music strengthened, as she became a co-host and DJ playing smooth sounds during the “Sugar & Spice” show on the university’s radio station.
In January 1974 Adelle discovered her greatest passion, being a mother, giving birth to her first son Curtis. As a single mother, she balanced raising her son while also continuing her education in the medical field by becoming a surgical tech and eventually a medical assistant. Adelle would later reconnect with her high school sweetheart and their love led to the birth of her 2nd son, Lamar in January 1990. No matter how old he got, she never stopped referring to him as her “baby boy”. She continued to set examples for her children, returning to Northeastern University and earning a bachelor’s degree followed by a master’s degree in Sociology.
As Adelle reached her “Golden Years” she enjoyed traveling, shopping, eating at various restaurants with friends, attending church, and spending time with her family most of all. She leaves to cherish her younger brother David Dickson Sr, her sons Curtis and Lamar, granddaughter Janaya, grandson Masai, and great grandson Antwan as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues.
Adelle will not ever be forgotten. She will be missed beyond measure. Her love and spirit will live on through each of us.
May she rest in eternal peace.
