Alice Fernandes

Alice Fernandes, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts. Born on January 21, 1936, in Fogo, Cabo Verde, she was the beloved daughter of the late Olegado Fernandes and Milica Gomes.

Alice was a devoted wife to her late husband, Joao Spinola, with whom she built a strong and loving family. She was a cherished and dedicated mother to Maria Filipa Spinola, Maria Teresa Spinola, Maria De Luz Spinola, Miguel Spinola, Alexandra Lopes, Jose Spinola, Luis Spinola, and Maria Filipa “Chubina” Spinola. She was predeceased by her children Maria Isabel Spinola and Nilo Teixeira.

Alice’s legacy lives on through her large and loving family. She was a proud grandmother to 46 grandchildren, a great-grandmother to 76 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandmother to 7 great-great-grandchildren. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of family gatherings.

A woman of deep care and compassion, Alice devoted her life to nurturing those around her. She found her greatest joy in caring for her family, always offering guidance, comfort, and unwavering support. Her kindness extended beyond her family to all who knew her, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Alice will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at George Lopes Funeral Home, 647 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 E. Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301.

Interment will follow at Melrose Cemetery in Brockton.
