Anthony B. Lovell (Tony), was born on May 30, 1953, to the late Clement and Eleanor Lovell of Boston, Massachusetts. Anthony was a dedicated public servant and an extremely creative soul whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Anthony devoted more than 25 years of service to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority through The Ride program, where he compassionately assisted elderly and disabled members of the community with transportation and care. He took great pride in helping others and serving people with dignity, kindness, and patience throughout his career before retiring from the MBTA.
He had a singing voice that melted hearts, turned heads, and touched souls. Music was one of his greatest passions, and he especially loved the music of Stevie Wonder. Whether singing, listening to music, or sharing songs with loved ones, music brought him joy throughout his life.
Anthony also had a deep love for fishing, which was one of his greatest passions. Some of his happiest moments were spent near the water, enjoying the peace, reflection, and simple joy that fishing brought him.
Anthony was a loving and devoted father to Anthony Lovell-Hines, Clement Lovell-Hines, Lovell Porter, Rayshawnda Germany-Porter, Monica Hill, and his chosen son, Shawn Porter. His cherished grandchildren, Lovell R. Porter, Rysiah Blair, and Deiondre Martinez, Aundrea Martinez, Niaysa Hill, Malaysa Hill, Stephon Bell, and Syaeer Bell; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and many others whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, creativity, and love.
He was preceded in death by his firstborn son, Anthony Lovell-Hines, sisters Louise Wright, Esther Brown, and Norma Jean Henderson, and brother Donald Benders.
Anthony will be remembered for his love of family, his gift for music, his creativity, and the warmth he brought into every room. His voice, spirit, and memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
