Augustine (Trini) Ogiste Obituary

With profound sorrow and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Augustine Ogiste, affectionately known as "Trini", who peacefully departed this life on May 18, 2026, in Milton, Massachusetts.

Augustine "Trini" Ogiste was born on May 31, 1951, in Biche, Trinidad, to his devoted parents, Lalgee Ogiste and Maria Ogiste. He was raised with strong family values, discipline, and compassion, qualities that remained with him throughout his life and guided the way he cared for others. He spent his final years being cared for his loving sister Anna. He is predeceased by his parents and his two brothers, and is memorialized by his sisters Emilia, Anna, Annette, AnnMarie, Mary and brothers Roy, Ralph, Albert, and Martin.

Augustine "Trini" Ogiste proudly served in the Military/Army as a chef, where he dedicated himself with honor, commitment, and pride. Through both his military service and his gift for cooking, he brought comfort and joy to many people throughout the years. He will be remembered for his warm spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family and friends.

He studied culinary arts in Boston and went on to be a chef in the military from 1977-1989. Trini was proud of his cooking abilities, and always had an open door, a hot plate and a cold beer for a friend or family member that wanted to stop by. He was especially proud of the rotation where he got the opportunity to cook for President George H. Bush and Colin Powell in Afghanistan. He lived for many years in Boston.

Augustine "Trini" Ogiste will be remembered for his epic cookouts in Dorchester. He loved entertaining at his home. Rockers and soca playing over the speakers, rice baking in the oven, meat on the grill, laughter and the sound of Rocky barking with the kids learning dances and playing hide and seek outside in the yard late into the night. This is what Trini liked best, friends and family and good food around.

After wanting a change from Massachusetts, he left for Houston, Texas where he spent some time until he was no longer able to take care of himself and his daughter Desiree. He spent his final years amongst his family in Milton. We are especially grateful for his sister Anna who was his round the clock caregiver and know that we were granted a few extra years because of her love, patience and exceptional care of her older brother in his time of need.

We thank him for his many years of service and know that he is in a better place now and free from pain, received with open arms by his parents Maria and Lalgee and his brothers Basil and Noel.

Trini leaves behind so many people who love him, including his children, Desiree, La Shonda, Juanita, Matthew, Jeremy, Imani, Denzel, grandchildren Kareem,Aalijah, Aaliyahhis, closet friends, Austin, Miller, Ardo, Winston, Alex, Victor, his siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Though he may be gone from our sight, Augustine’s legacy of service, love, and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
