Belinda Lamons affectionately known as Nana B and Sunflower was born on November 26th, 1958, in Clanton, Alabama to Dorothy Childers and Jefferson Varner. She came to Boston as a young girl to live with Aunty Angela Bolding (deceased) after the Birmingham Church bombing. She excelled in school where she received her GED later on in life (after having babies). She made a living processing medical claims where she met her loving husband Rhunell Lamons. Rhunell helped raise her 3 children as his own up until they separated. Due to health reasons, she took early retirement. Then her job was taking care of her grandbabies which she loved.
Belinda was known for her bubbly personality, she loved to get her dance on and enjoy a good time with family and friends.
And let’s talk about her singing. She would belt out Yolando Adams song Open My Heart acapella. In fact, she won first prize at KeyBank’s talent show. They all thought because Nikki worked there that it was rigged especially because she didn’t use music. She also sang at her best friend/sister Rowena’s wedding and had everyone in tears even the men.
And let’s not forget her cooking. Belinda could throw down in the kitchen from Pickled Pigs Feet to Macaroni Salad to her Chicken Broccoli and Ziti. Mmm mmm Good!
Belinda was a loving mother to her three children, Johnita (Nikki) Gilzene, Oscar (OC) Bolding and Levar (Vav) Foster the last Pea in the Pod (deceased).
She loved her Facebook games and her Perry Mason no matter how many times she watched the episodes.
Wherever she went she left a lasting impression. Whether it was flirting with your man in your face or showering you with her Mama love no matter who you were.
She leaves to mourn her daughter Johnita (Nikki) Gilzene (Robert Gilzene), Oscar (OC) Bolding, and Levar (Vav) Foster (deceased), her sister Donna Childers (Rick Mayo Deceased) and Brothers James (Heavy) Bolding, Philip (Dickie) Childers (Deceased), her eight grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews whom she all loved as her own. And let’s not forget the book club ladies Divas Read About It!!
