Benvindo Miranda

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Benvindo Miranda, who peacefully departed this life on May 23, 2026, in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Born on April 23, 1941, in Brava, Cabo Verde, Benvindo was the beloved son of the late Joao Miranda and Eugenia Tavares Miranda. He carried with him the strength, resilience, and rich cultural traditions of his homeland throughout his life, touching many with his humble spirit and unwavering devotion to family.

Benvindo spent many years working as a packer for a fish market, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and perseverance. Through life’s many challenges, he remained committed to providing for and supporting those he loved most.

A devoted father and proud grandfather, Benvindo’s greatest joy came from the family he nurtured and cherished. He leaves behind his loving children: Henriqueta Da Cruz Miranda, Joao Da Cruz Miranda, Antonio Da Cruz Miranda, Benvindo Da Cruz Miranda, Juvinita Da Cruz Miranda, Maria Socoro Da Cruz Miranda, Maria Alice Da Cruz Miranda, and Maria Fatima Da Cruz Miranda. He also leaves behind 16 cherished grandchildren, 12 beloved great-grandchildren, and a host of loving relatives and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Benvindo will be remembered for his quiet strength, kindness, wisdom, and the unconditional love he shared with his family. His presence was a source of comfort and guidance, and his legacy will continue through the generations that follow him.

Viewing Hours will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at George Lopes Funeral Home, 647 Main Street, Brockton, MA.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, June 1, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 East Main Street, Brockton, MA.

Followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery, 163 North Cary Street, Brockton, MA.

Though our hearts are saddened by his passing, we find comfort in the beautiful memories he leaves behind and the love that will endure forever.
