Daniel Higginbottom Obituary

Mr. Daniel Higginbottom, of Brockton, Massachusetts passed peacefully on March 23, 2021.

Daniel (Dan) Higginbottom was born in Birmingham, AL on January 5, 1950 to the late Joseph W. Higginbottom and Odean Higginbottom. In August 1963, he and his family moved to Boston, MA where he received his high school diploma from Brighton High School.

At the age of 13, Dan joined the Metropolitan Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. In his late teens, he began to worship and became a member at Way Of The Cross Church. There he learned how to play the bass guitar and became a part of the church band. He also played bass for the church choir and was frequently asked to play at other churches. Also, while at Way Of The Cross Church he trained to become a minister in which he taught and preached the word of God.

In his early twenties, Dan, along with his other siblings started a business with their father called “Joseph Higginbottom and Sons” and was later changed to  “J.F. Pendleton Contracting Company”. There he learned and taught his siblings how to drive 10 wheeler dump trucks. He worked with his family for several years before becoming a bus driver. He drove for Boston Public Schools and Lena Park CDC.

In 2009, Dan met his soon to be wife Glenda at the Kingdom Church in Brockton, MA which later changed to Restoration Community Church. On January 1, 2010, Dan and Glenda united in holy matrimony. Together they enjoyed worshipping God, fishing, playing cards, traveling and spending time with family. They would also come to family events and sing beautiful duets together. They fellowshipped at Mount Sinai Holy Church of Brockton, MA under the leadership of Late Elder Yvonne Garrett Singleton where Dan preached and was involved in ministerial training.

Dan was such a sociable person and loved speaking to people about God; encouraging people to serve and participate in activities. In 2013, he graduated and received a certificate from Emanuel Temple Ministerial School.  He also used to provide tips about truck driving and was always supportive.

Anyone that knew Dan, knew he was a sharp dresser. He had the nicest suits and his coordination was precise. He had the tie to match perfectly with the shoes and sometimes even the hat. But not only did he dress to perfection, he always smelled really good.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Glenda (Berkley) Higginbottom of Brockton, MA. His mother, Odean Higginbottom of Boston, MA. His sons, Daniel Jerome (Thomasina) Higginbottom of Peabody, MA. Darrell J (Ta’mekka) Higginbottom of Boston, MA. His daughter, Ajia’Lum Daniell Wilkinson of Enterprise, AL. His grandchildren, Davonte and Daija Higginbottom of Boston, MA. Kila and Dina Higginbottom of Peabody, MA. His aunts, Veronica Higginbottom of Boston, MA, Dorothea Carter  of Kosciusko, MI, Catherine Thomas of Birmingham, AL and Freddie Jean Higginbottom of Texas. His siblings, Lorene (Ezzard) Turner, David (Bette) Higginbottom, Rosa (Melvin) Hubert, Joseph (Margaret) Higginbottom, Freddie Higginbottom. Ronnie Higginbottom, Diane Jones, Grady (Michelle) Higginbottom and Michael (Wendy) Higginbottom all of Boston, MA.
