David Andrade Barros Sr., age 72, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on February 28, 1954, in Fogo, Cabo Verde, David was the beloved son of the late Jaime De Barros and Matilde De Barros. At the age of 13, he immigrated to the United States, carrying with him the values of residence, humility, and perservance that would guide him throughout his life. Though he built his future in America, he remained deeply connected to his Cabo Verdean roots and took pride in the heritage, family, and traditions that shaped the man he became.
David dedicated many years of service as a Machinist for U.S. Repeating Arms, where he earned the respect of coworkers through his skill, dependability, and strong work ethic. He took pride in providing for his family and approached every challenge with determination and integrity.
Above all, David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He shared a loving marriage with his wife, Sabina G Barros, whose companionship and unwavering support were the foundation of their life together. Family was the center of David’s world, and some of his happiest moments were spent gathered around loved ones, sharing stories, laughter, and advice that will be cherished for years to come.
David found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed gardening, restoring furniture, and working with his hands. He especially treasured spending time with his grandchildren, whose presence brought him immense happiness. Whether helping a family member, assisting a neighbor, or offering encouragement to a friend, David was always willing to lend a helping hand without expecting anything in return.
David is preceded in death by his siblings, Antonio Barros, and Jose A. Barros. He is survived by his siblings,Eugenia A. Cruz, John Cruz, Leo DeBarros and his wife Maria, Chris DeBarros, Ana Maria Thomas and her husband Norris, Teresa Barnette, Gus DeBarros and Jaime DeBarros Jr.. He also leaves behind his beloved children, Dalgiza Barros and David Barros Jr. and his wife Erica, his cherished grandchildren, David “Dede” Barros, Alexander Barros, Xayvian Barros, and Sabella Mendes; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
David will be remembered by his quiet strength, generous heart, and steadfast devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the countless memories shared by family and friends. Though he is no longer with us in body, his love, guidance, and spirit will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
May he rest in eternal peace.
