David Paul Lopes

Our Beloved David Paul Lopes, (72) was born on November 1, 1950 in Newport, Rhode Island to the late William Joseph Lopes Jr. and Emilia Lillian Morris Lopes. He was also preceded in death by his late brother Richard A. Lopes. David received his wings on May 11, 2023 and peacefully transitioned with the love of family surrounding him, after a very long and hard fought battle following a lung transplant at Massachusetts General Hospital.

David leaves behind to cherish him in memory and love, his wife Darcel Robinson Lopes, his son Jelani A. Lopes, daughter Kai Y. Lopes-Stovell (Myron Stovell), Halim D. Lopes (Latia A. Lopes), his brother William J. Lopes Jr. (Billie Lopes), his Aunt Cynthia Morris, his sister-in-law Patricia Robinson Brown, his brothers-in-law Earl D. Robinson (Judy Robinson), Andre L. Robinson, seven grandchildren, loving cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and very special friends.

David’s Homegoing services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Bethel A.M.E Church, 40 Walk Hill Street, Boston, MA 02130. Visitation and viewing will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. The Interment will follow at the Forest Hills Cemetery.
