Domingas (Julia) Teixeira, 69, of Brockton, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on October 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with many health issues. Born on April 17, 1955, in Luanda, Angola, to Ivo and Antonia Gomes Varela, she is predeceased by her father, Ivo Varela, and her husband, Pedro Teixeira.
A devoted sister, mother, grandmother, and friend to all, Domingas embodied unconditional love, a resilient spirit, and unending generosity. She is survived and forever remembered by her children: David Teixeira, Ana Teixeira, Sonia Teixeira, Nelson Teixeira, Tony Teixeira, and Jeannie Teixeira; her 15 grandchildren, and 5 greatgrandchildren. Her memory will live on through her five siblings, in-laws, their spouses, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
Known for her strong will and enormous heart, Domingas had a tireless work ethic. She was a dedicated certified nurse’s aide for over forty years in Brockton and the surrounding towns, treating both staff and patients as her family. Her passion for caring for the elderly will be deeply missed.
Memorial services will be held at George Lopes Funeral Home, 647 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301, with visitation on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral service to honor Domingas’ life will be held on October 12, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 E. Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301, followed by her final resting place at Calvary Cemetery and a luncheon in the Parish Hall.
While our hearts mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and that she will be reunited with her loving husband and many loved relatives. The family would like to thank the ER, Surgical and Neuroscience ICU, and many health professionals at Boston Medical for their compassionate care during Domingas’ stay.
