Elijah White Jr. (79) transitioned to eternal peace on May 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 13, 1945, to the late Elijah and Nadi Bell White Sr. of Montgomery, Alabama and graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1964.
Elijah AKA “Jr. or Eli” a proud veteran, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in August 1965. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Sergeant. As part of his service to our country, he served in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the Republic of Vietnam (TUY HOA), South Vietnam, and completed his final duty assignment in London, England. Eli was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in August 1971.
Following his honorable discharge Eli began work with Sealy Mattress in Randolph, Massachusetts and eventually Eli joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1986 where he served loyally until he retired in 2011. During this time Eli met Paulette in Boston, Massachusetts where they were married in 1979. They also moved to 28 Blake Street that year where they would begin hosting many memorable events for family and friends throughout the years.
Elijah was passionate about sports and often indulged in volunteer commentary for all the New England professional sports teams right from his basement. Where he would be heard and enjoy both watching the games and eating “tasty” food. He was a generous individual who loved donating to many charities, individuals, or organizations to help those in need. Eli was an active and devout member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served as an usher and faithfully attended bible study. He was passionate about sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with others. He would often volunteer at local polling stations. Eli was a dedicated member of the community he often took part in Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and neighborhood betterment events.
Elijah placed his trust and confidence in God. His favorite scripture was Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
Elijah was preceded in death by his sibling Lillian Hamilton, Moses White, Mary Samuel, Millie Goldsmith, Solomon White, and Troy Dates (son)
Eli was blessed with a large and loving family. Survived by his wife Paulette White, two sons Kenneth Woods (Vanessa) and Marvin Woods (Cynthia); two daughters Brenice Sterling and Winona Cole (Devin); one brother James White; two sisters Janie Jones and Lula Palmer; eleven grandsons Marvin Jr., Matthew, Micah, Malik, Jaquan, Jasper III, Javonte, Troy Jr. Corey, Noah, and Nathaniel; two granddaughters Kiana and Kennedi.
