Elizabeth Anderson was born on November 30, 1932 in Augusta, Georgia. Elizabeth (Sister Anderson) was a Baptized member of Jehovah Witness in the Metropolitan Congregation, Boston, Massachusetts. Elizabeth was predeceased by her great-grandparents Albert Jones & Nettie (Evans) Jones and her grandparents David Jones and Laura Jones. David and Laura had four children, James Jones, Seaborn Jones, Nettie Mae Jones and Elijah Jones. Elizabeth’s mother and father were Nettie Mae (Jones) Marshall and Charles Marshall. Charles and Nettie Mae had seven children: The late William Marshall, The late James Marshall, the late Eugenia Webster, the late Marie Marshall, the late Arthur Marshall, the late Carrie Marshall. Elizabeth helped raised Arthur Marshall and Carrie Marshall.
Elizabeth married Everett Anderson Sr. (deceased) and they raised seven children: The late Everett Anderson Jr., the late Eugene Anderson, the late Regina Lee Anderson, Rosemary Mowring, James El Dorado Anderson I, Vance C. Anderson Sr., Cory Anderson Sr. She adopted two nephews, Tyrone Anderson and Dwan Anderson, having effectively raised nine children.
Elizabeth graduated from Boston Central High School. She also attended Chandler School for Women and completed courses in business and related college subjects. Elizabeth worked many jobs in Banking, Manufacturing and Retail Sales. She held a supervisory position at Raytheon Corporation, before she found her strength working as a Community Activist. Elizabeth had experience in organizing social functions and events, working and assisting parents in various fields in education, police and community relations and, survival skills. She worked for Boston Model Neighborhood Board, Inc. in Roxbury, MA. Some of her Community Activities were: 1965 -1967 Volunteer Secretary for ABCD a nonprofit agency, 1970 Roxbury – North Dorchester APAC Board of Directors, Chairlady; 1973 Member of Stop and Shop Consumer Council Board and Member of Fort Hill Mental Health Center.
“Sister Anderson”, ultimately retired and got baptized as a Jehovah Witness on June 24, 1977 at the Natick Assembly Hall in Natick, MA. She strongly embraced the “Truth”, as her secular activities gravitated toward her spiritual activities. She advocated her love for Jehovah God by regularly attending Kingdom Hall meetings, engaging in preaching activity, pioneering work in field service and personal bible studies. Being a Matriarch she was a “Giant” in both the secular world and spiritual world. She was loved by many.
“Sister Anderson” is survived by Rosemary Mowring, James El Dorado Anderson I, Vance C. Anderson Sr., Cory Anderson, Tyrone Anderson and Dwan Anderson, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
We love you “Betty”, Rest In Peace. Praise Jehovah God for a loving and very dedicated mother, grandmother, auntie, cousin and spiritual sister.
