Elizabeth Mbukanma

Elizabeth Mbukanma, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, family member, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Brockton, Massachusetts, on August 25, 2026. Her passing leaves a profound sadness in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Yet, her memory, her love, and the beautiful life she shared with others will forever be cherished.

Elizabeth was born on January 2, 1964, in Edo State, Nigeria, to her beloved parents, the late Salami Okpokpo and the late Magajia Okpokpo. From an early age, Elizabeth possessed a remarkable sense of determination, compassion, and devotion to God and to those she loved. She was a deeply devoted Catholic whose faith remained an important part of her life. She valued education and proudly earned her Bachelor’s degree, an accomplishment that reflected her perseverance, strength, and commitment to creating a meaningful life for herself and her family.

Throughout her life, Elizabeth was a hardworking and accomplished woman. In Nigeria, she owned and operated a book publishing enterprise, a farm, and a catering business. She brought the same dedication, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit with her when she moved to the United States. She later worked as a chef at Tambo’s Kitchen, where she shared her culinary talents and her warm, caring spirit with those around her.

For Elizabeth, cooking was more than a profession. It was one of the many ways she expressed her love. Through food, she brought people together, created memories, offered comfort, and made others feel cared for. Her generosity and hospitality were a reflection of the loving heart she carried throughout her life.

Above all, Elizabeth’s greatest joy was her family and her relationship with God. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Eugene Mbukanma Sr., and a cherished mother to her children, Otitodilichukwu Elizabeth Sotunde, Eugene Olisedinma Mbukanma Jr., Soluchukwu Jude Mbukanma, and Angel Oluchukwu Asekhamhe. She was also a loving and devoted grandmother who treasured the time, love, and memories she shared with her grandchildren.

Elizabeth’s faith was woven deeply into the way she lived her life. Her love for God and her family guided her, gave her strength, and shaped the legacy she leaves behind. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, her resilience, her generosity, her strong work ethic, and the countless ways she cared for the people around her.

Elizabeth leaves behind her loving husband, Eugene Mbukanma Sr.; her beloved sons, Eugene Mbukanma Jr. and Solu Mbukanma; her beloved daughters, Otito Sotunde and Oluchukwu Asekhameh; her grandchildren; and a host of extended family members, relatives, friends, and loved ones who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Salami Okpokpo and Magajia Okpokpo.

Though Elizabeth’s earthly journey has come to an end, the love she gave and the lives she touched will continue to live on through her family and through everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy will be carried forward in the values she instilled, the memories she created, and the love she so freely gave.

May her family find strength in one another and comfort in the knowledge that Elizabeth’s love will remain with them always. May they find peace in their faith and in the promise of eternal life.

Viewing hours will take place on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Parish, 54 Lyman Street, Brockton, Massachusetts.

Following the Funeral Mass, Elizabeth will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.

May Elizabeth Mbukanma rest peacefully in eternal grace. May perpetual light shine upon her, and may her beautiful memory forever remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
