With deep sorrow, yet with the blessed hope found in Jesus Christ, we announce that Emanuel Neves peacefully fell asleep in Jesus on June 30, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of 65.
Born on January 2, 1961, in São Pedro, Portugal, to Edmundo and Maria Da Estrella Neves, Emanuel lived a life marked by humility, integrity, and faithful service. For many years, he worked as a custodian at Boston University, where he was respected for his dedication, kindness, and strong work ethic.
Above all, Emanuel was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, brother, and friend. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Millicent Meza Neves; his children, Courtney, Matthew, and Maggie; his stepchildren, Angelica, Tsungirirayi, Cedric, and Julian; and his sisters, Maria E. Leite, Ana Macedo, Lucie Aguiar, and Marie Johnston. He also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, cherished church family, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, quiet faith, and Christlike spirit. Though they mourn his passing, they find comfort in the blessed hope of Christ’s soon return and the promise of the resurrection.
Though we grieve, we rest in Christ’s promise:
“Let not your heart be troubled… I will come again, and receive you unto myself.” — John 14:1–3
As Ellen G. White wrote, “To the Christian, death is but a sleep until the resurrection morning.” With this blessed hope, we look forward to the day when Jesus will awaken His faithful children to everlasting life.
