Obituary for the Late Erastus Gitau Kirika
February 20, 1940 – October 16, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Mr. Erastus Gitau Kirika, who departed this life on October 16, 2025, in Brockton, Massachusetts.
Erastus was born on February 20, 1940, in Kenya, Africa, to the late Nahashon Kirika and Tabitha Wanjiku. His life was one of dedication, humility and kindness.
After moving to the United States, Erastus spent his working years as a driver for Reliable Transportation, where he was known for his diligence, reliability, and warm smile that could brighten anyone’s day. Beyond his work, Erastus was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend whose generosity and wisdom left a lasting mark on those around him.
He is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Gladys Kirika, and his children: Nahashon K. Gitau, David K. Gitau, Tabitha W. Gitau, and Elizabeth W. Gitau. He also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends, both in the United States and in Kenya, who will miss him dearly and forever cherish his memory.

A Wake Service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at George Lopes Funeral Home, located at 647 Main Street, Brockton, Massachusetts 02301.
A Funeral Service will follow the next day, Friday, November 7, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM and concluding at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Parish, 701 Pleasant Street, Brockton, Massachusetts 02301.
After the service, Erastus will be laid to rest at Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree, Massachusetts 02184.
Erastus will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for family, and the gentle spirit that endeared him too so many.
Though he has departed from our sight, he will forever remain in our hearts.
