Filomena "Celina" Fragoso Lopes Monteiro

It is with profound sadness and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Filomena "Celina" Fragoso Lopes Monteiro (71) of Boston, Massachusetts, who peacefully departed this life on July 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Filomena was affectionately known as "Celina" born on September 7, 1954, in Santiago, Cape Verde, to the late Armando Lopes and Domingas Fragoso Lopes.

Celina dedicated many years of her life to serving others as an educator, a profession she embraced with compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to help others learn and grow. She touched countless lives through her commitment to education and was respected for her wisdom, kindness, and nurturing spirit.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend whose warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family touched the lives of all who knew her. She found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved and was the heart of her family, always offering guidance, comfort, and unconditional love. Her strength, grace, and selfless nature will forever be remembered and deeply missed.

Celina leaves behind to cherish her precious memory her beloved husband, Romualdo "Mamapo" Monteiro; her loving children, Manuel "Tita" Monteiro, Isabel "Neusa" Pereira, Claudia Monteiro, Armando "Teco" Monteiro, and João "Popo" Paulo Ramos; 13 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, along with a host of cherished relatives, dear friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her.

Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we take comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind and the lasting legacy of love, faith, service, and family that she instilled in those she held dear.
