Gerrod Anthony Brown Sr. departed this life on October 4, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 18, 1984, in Boston, Gerrod was the cherished son of Renna D. Brown, the late Anthony Clyde Johnson, and the stepson of Kelvin Baker. He attended Boston Public Schools and later earned his GED, going on to work with dedication at Boston University for many years. Known affectionately by his family as “Piper”, Gerrod was a gentle, kind soul who touched the lives of everyone around him. He had a quiet, sweet spirit paired with a sharp sense of humor and smile that could light up any room. Always ready to help, Gerrod would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought. When his mother called, he came running, a testament to the deep love and loyalty he had for his family.
Gerrod shared a special bond with his brother Desmond, his best friend and confidant, and he adored and spoiled his baby sister Kyra. His greatest pride was his children. He loved them, his mother, and his siblings more than anything, and his protective nature always shone through in how he cared for them.
His memory will forever be cherished by his loving mother, Renna D. Brown of Boston, and his devoted siblings: brother Desmond S. Brown and sisters Kyra R. Baker, Tonia Singleton, and Tonecia Bayne. He will be reunited in heaven with his father, Anthony C. Johnson, his dear sons, Anthony Gerrod Brown and Gerrod A. Brown Jr., and his paternal grandparents, Johnny and Erlean Johnson.
His children– Gerrell A Brown, Makaya J. Brown, Gerron A.G. Brown, Kaiden S. Brown, Jaiden X. Brown and Zoii M. Brown– are left to carry on his legacy.
Gerrod is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Rodney M. Brown and Marilyn C. Brown of Boston, MA, and his extended family, including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, godparents, godchildren, and a host of loved ones.
Gerrod will forever be remembered for his infectious smile, his loving heart, and the joy he brought into the lives of everyone who knew him. Though his time with us was far too short, the love he gave and the memories we shared will last a lifetime.
