Gwendolyn Ann Leatherwood

Gwendolyn Ann Leatherwood-Poole was born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 26th, 1967, to Carrie Bell Leatherwood and Robert Louis Poole Jr. Gwendolyn closed her eyes on October 4th, 2023.

Gwen attended South Boston High in 1982. She had a passion for doing hair and later went on to pursue her dreams in hair school. She was the life of the party and always dancing to music.

Gwendolyn enjoyed helping her family and friends.

She took care of two of her kids with disabilities; (One born the size of a Pepsi can and the other born with Hydrocephalus.) She was one to hold her own and might I add a “tough cookie” who always spoke what was on her mind.

In her free time, she loved braiding hair and creating new hair styles. She spent time with family often and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She would give the shirt off her back if you needed it. Gwen was truly a joy to be around and a loving soul to everyone she encountered.

She is survived by four children Quantia Suarez, Shakir King, Shaniqua Williams, and Kevin Peart, and grandchildren Trinity Thompson, Keith Brazzo, Shakir King Jr., Xavian King, Sylvia King Sanchez, Kayden Williams, and Milani Williams, siblings Troy Leatherwood, Pamela Leatherwood, Ronald Leatherwood-Poole, Jerome Leatherwood-Poole, Isaiah Poole, Isaac Poole, and Sadika Poole and host of family and friends.
