Isabel (Goncalves Depina) Medero

Isabel “Tia” “Mami” Medero, age 65 died on Saturday April 9th, 2022. Surrounded by her loving family, who will always be remembered by her positive energy, her optimistic humble ways, free-spirited, given, realistic and outgoing personality. Isabel was born in Sao Felipe of the island of Fogo, Cape Verde. She immigrated to the United States in 1984 where she lived for nearly 39 years along with her family. Isabel was a devout Catholic and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and cousin. Isabel was committed to her family, friends and her plants.

Isabel is survived by her nine children: Lu, Vasco, Leida, Janine, Odair, Nilton, Antonio, Jessica and Jason. She is now reunited with her mother Beatriz Lopes and her sister Ana DePina, Riolanda Lopes, Manuela Goncalves, and her brother Osvaldo Araujo. She also leaves behind 6 siblings Luisa Fonseca, Joaquim De Pina, Daniel De Pina, Paulo Tavares, Elsa Araújo and Celmira  Gonçalves, as well as 21 grandchildren, 1 great-grand child, 24 nieces and nephews, as well as her two cats: Wheezy and Silver that she loved dearly. 

Isabel enjoyed life; she was a Tia for all of us. She was always there to brighten the lives of others. She now remains the light that shines within us.
