Jackie Dale Spann (72), of Brockton, Massachusetts passed away on September 21, 2026.
Jackie Dale Spann was born on August 18, 1954.
Jackie Dale Spann was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, brother, faithful servant of God, and a friend to many. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Rebecca and Lewis Spann. He was educated in the Charleston public school system and was a proud graduate of James Bond Wilson High School.
Jackie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine Alston Spann, and his siblings, Joseph Spann, Ernestine Gaddson, Thomas Spann, and George Spann, all of Charleston, South Carolina.
Jackie was a devoted husband and father who opened his heart and home to his family. He raised and loved Elaine’s five sons as his own: Cornell Allston of Charleston, South Carolina; John Allston of Brockton, Massachusetts; Carl Washington of Charleston, South Carolina; Eric Alston of Fall River, Massachusetts; and Allen Alston of Leominster, Massachusetts. Together, Jackie and Elaine were blessed with two daughters, Angelette Spann of Fall River, Massachusetts, and Karlette Spann of Charleston, South Carolina.
He was a proud grandfather who cherished his grandchildren: Marco Valentine, Jenny Santos, Logan Spann, Dante Ortiz, Joewel Alston, Jaylce Alston, Jolie Alston, Jaylind Spann, Tajaun Williams, Tahary Spann, Joshua Spann, and Elijah Spann.
In 1985, seeking a better lifestyle and greater opportunities for his family, Jackie followed his brother-in-law, Apostle Edward Campbell, and relocated his family from Charleston to Massachusetts. This courageous move marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life, where he continued to build a legacy rooted in family, faith, hard work, and service.
Jackie was known for his loving and caring heart, hardworking spirit, bubbly personality, and unwavering strength. He was a man who encouraged others, gave freely of himself, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His strong will and determination carried him through many seasons of life, and his presence brought warmth and encouragement to those around him.
Throughout his working years, Jackie took great pride in providing for his family. He worked at Embassy House Nursing Home and LaBaron Foundry and also operated his own carpet-cleaning business. He later dedicated 20 years of service to the Environmental Services Department at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts. After many years of faithful service, Jackie retired due to health challenges.
Jackie’s faith was an important part of his life. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and dedicated himself to serving both God and his community. He served on the Deacon Board, the Pastor’s Aide Board, and in various other church auxiliaries. He was a member of New Jerusalem Tabernacle of Prayer for All People and also attended Holy Tabernacle Church in Brockton.
Jackie’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, perseverance, and service. He gave his family a strong foundation and leaves behind a legacy that will continue through his children, grandchildren, family, and all those whose lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by his family and friends. Though his earthly journey has come to an end, the love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
May he rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord.
