James Haliday Jr. Obituary

James Bennett Haliday affectionately known to most as "Buster" was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 28, 1946, to the late James Bennett and Helen Haliday. He departed this life Sunday, February 15, 2026.

Buster was the third of seven children, where he developed a legendary sense of humor and the ability to find joy and humor in most situations.

Buster attended Boston Public Schools where he made lifelong friends. He then went on to become a proud member of the Carpenter's Union where his skill, hard work and determination resulted in him becoming a highly skilled master carpenter. Through the Union he was highly sought after and worked many placements.

Buster loved music and dancing, especially enjoying Barry White, The Temptations, Smokey and Michael Jackson. He enjoyed kite flying and looked forward to Boston's annual Kite Festival. A passionate sports fan he enjoyed watching football and basketball. He was always the loudest supporter in the room cheering for whoever was playing against Boston.

Buster was an honorable man of many talents, not only a master carpenter but a skilled golfer. He believed that life like golf wasn't about the score but the lessons you learned along the way.

Buster's greatest joy was his unconditional love he shared with his grand and great grandchildren, passing down traditions, telling stories and being a source of strength and wisdom.

Buster was truly one of a kind, a devoted father, grandfather and friend instilling values that will be passed down for generations. He lived for his family leaving them a legacy of love and integrity. He will be missed more than words can say. His spirit and lessons will live on in the hearts and minds of his family and friends.

James Bennet Haliday (Buster) was preceded in death by his parents James Bennett and Helen Haliday. And his brother Harold Ransom. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Lana Haliday. Sons: Michael Barton and Kevin Haliday. Daughter Lurrell DeRosa Williams. Sisters: Juanita Williams (John Williams) Patricia Meyers and Cynthia Haliday. Brothers: Billy Haliday and Lawrence Haliday.
