Jamille McMillan

Jamille McMillan, affectionately known to everyone as “Mille,” departed this life on the afternoon of July 20, 2026. He peacefully transitioned into eternity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife, family, and close friends.

Jamille accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at a young age and remained steadfast in his faith throughout his life. He read his Bible daily and often shared meaningful scriptures with his wife, Treva, especially passages about overcoming life’s battles and trusting in God’s strength.

Born on December 13, 1972, in Boston, Massachusetts, Jamille was the son of Charles Burney and Carolyn McMillan. He began his education in Boston, MA and he completed his studies at Cathedral High School. After graduating, Jamille joined City Year, Inc., where he participated in the Community Service-Based Program. His dedication and passion for helping others quickly led to his hiring as a full-time counselor. In that role, he found great fulfillment mentoring and supporting underprivileged youth, empowering them to recognize their value and pursue their potential.

In 1996, Jamille received life-changing news when he was accepted into Laborers’ Local 223 Union. He took immense pride in his work and built a career defined by dedication, hard work, and reliability. Throughout his years in the union, he forged lasting friendships and earned the respect of his fellow members and colleagues. Jamille remained a proud member of Local 223 and continued working until his health no longer allowed him to do so.

Jamille was known for his love of vehicles, especially his beloved black Suburban. He enjoyed waking up early to wash and shine it before driving to 28 Brook Ave., where he would spend time talking and laughing with family and friends. And when he really wanted to make an impression, he would arrive in his black Cadillac Brougham.

A gifted artist and talented cook, Jamille found joy in expressing his creativity through drawing and preparing meals for his girls. As his health limited his mobility and he became homebound, he spent many days drawing and cooking. Fridays were especially memorable. Treva would often call us up and say, “Mille is cooking tonight, so come over.” Jamille would spend the entire day preparing food, and by the time everyone arrived, he was ready to serve a meal made with love. Nothing brought him more joy than feeding those he cared about.

Jamille leaves behind a legacy of love and countless cherished memories. He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Latreva McMillan; his father, Charles Burney, his brother, Keith McMillan; his godson, Elijah “Mookie” Chisholm, his best friends, Eric Chisholm and Stedmen Carter, and a host of relatives, friends, and loved ones who will forever treasure his memory.

Jamille was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Carolyn McMillan and his grandparents Samuel “Junior” & Willie-Mae McMillan, and his Aunt Mabel Leonard.
