Janay Rose-Banks Obituary

We are here to celebrate the beautiful life of Janay Lorena Rose-Banks, who gained her wings and departed this earth on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

Janay was born on September 22, 1987, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Adrianne Banks and John W. Banks. She grew up in the Roxbury area and was part of the Newton METCO Program, graduating from Newton South High School in 2006. Always eager to grow and learn, Janay went on to complete a construction training program through YouthBuild in 2009.

Janay was truly the life of the party — her love of dancing, stepping, music, playing spades, frying chicken, and, of course, enjoying a good meal made her unforgettable to all who knew her. Wherever Janay went, she filled the room with laughter, joy, and above all, love.

In 2014, Janay met the love of her life, Yolette Rose. Their love blossomed into a deep and lasting partnership, and they were united in marriage on June 23, 2016. Their love was truly one of a kind — a beautiful testament to commitment, laughter, and devotion.

Janay had a special gift with children. She was an amazing stepmother, godmother, aunt, and cousin, beloved by all the children in her life. Her heart was full of compassion, and she will be remembered for her generous spirit and the countless ways she showed up for her family and friends.

Janay is preceded in death by her mother, Adrianne Banks; her grandmothers and grandfathers; and several beloved uncles and aunts.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted wife, Yolette Rose-Banks; her stepdaughter, Da’Ziya Rose; her father, John Banks; her sisters, Naomi Goins, Akeysha Terrell-Parks, Jona Banks, Kiel Banks (her twin), Adrianne Banks, Obadiah Banks-Moore, and Ezra Banks; her brothers, John Jones, Brandon Roberts, and John Banks; her godchildren Wykeem “Man” Price Jr., Ahmir Wesley, and Zi’Ariya Sky; her mother-in-law, Barbara Rose; five sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless close friends.

Janay’s radiant light, her boundless love, and her unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
