Jean Cassagnol Obituary

Jean Ricot Cassagnol, affectionately known as Ti Co, was born on May 25, 1950. He was the son of Jean Ileres Cassagnol and Annette François. He was the eldest child in a family of eight, which included Yvia François; the late Mireille Cassagnol; Marie Olga Cassagnol Sidney; Marie Fabienne Cassagnol Duvivier; Marie Edna Cassagnol Dorvilier; and Alex Cassagnol.

Ricot attended Lycée François Duvalier in Pétion-Ville, Haiti. In 1974, after completing his baccalaureate, he met the love of his life, Marie Soeurette Laguerre. Two years later, they were married. Together, they welcomed three beautiful children: the late Henry Robert, Beatrice Cassagnol, and Dave Owens Cassagnol.

In 1980, Ricot left Haiti to reunite with his wife, Soeurette, in the United States. A few years after arriving in America, he decided to continue his education. He attended AERO Tech in Lexington, where he earned an associate degree in aviation mechanics.

Fixing cars was one of Ricot’s greatest passions. He could spend hours working underneath a car, regardless of the conditions. He became the family’s trusted mechanic. If your car broke down, all you had to do was call Uncle Ti Co. He always seemed to have the solution.

Ricot also loved socializing and connecting with others. Politics was one of his favorite interests, and he enjoyed discussing current events and sharing his thoughts. He was a selfless man who touched many lives. He was attentive, patient, and always willing to listen to someone’s problems and offer advice or a solution.

He was remarkably intelligent and filled with wisdom. He approached everything he did with endless passion, and his mind was as sharp as a chef’s knife. He was independent, determined, and resourceful. No matter the circumstances, he never allowed himself to fall into despair.

After three months of illness, Ricot passed away on July 22, 2026.

He leaves behind his children, Beatrice Cassagnol, Dave Owens Cassagnol, Germael Rivers, and his youngest son, Jesson Cassagnol, who lives in Haiti; his eight grandchildren; his four sisters, Yvia, Olga, Fabienne, and Edna; and his only brother, Alex Cassagnol.

He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Valery Sidney, Carl-Olivier Sidney, Sherley Sidney Jean-Gilles, Wilvia François, Melissa François Agiman, Ricardo François, Izadorah Dorvilier, Eden-Samuel Dorvilier, and Alexander Cassagnol; his grandnephew, Caleb-Olivier Sidney; his stepmother, Germaine Cassagnol; and his cousins, Paul Cassagnol, Laurene, Micheline, Julianne, Laurence, Marie-Thérèse Cassagnol, Anna, and Alerte of Montreal.

Ricot has left this earthly life and gone home to his Father’s house. Although we will miss him deeply, his wisdom, generosity, strength, and love will remain with us.

Thank you all for taking the time to offer your condolences and honor the life of our beloved Jean Ricot.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
