Jessie Dixon Obituary

Jessie James Dixon was born on December 9th, 1957, in Greenville, North Carolina to Addie Prayer and Robert Dixon. Jessie Passed on to eternal life on December 31, 20024.

Jessie Dixon sub-combed to lymphoma that rapidly spread, and he unexpectedly lost the battle a week after being diagnosed.

Jesse was the second oldest of seven children. At the tender age of seven, his parents moved from the south to Roxbury Massachusetts. After relocating a couple of times throughout Roxbury, the Dixons chose to settle and make a home in a community in Dorchester Massachusetts also known as Columbia Point. Addie Dixon was a fine seamstress and while many days of watching his mother’s sewing skills Jesse fell in love with fabrics and clothing right from the start. Jesse watched his mother craft the family’s wardrobes while she made everything from suits, dresses, and many other clothing needs.

Jessie attended the Paul A Dever elementary school then went on to go to the John M McCormick middle school and finally in high school he was a football defensive star player however, Jessie’s dreams were shattered when he broke his collarbone.

Jessie had various jobs from Stop and Shop to driving trucks but his real passion in life was anything to do with music and a love for fashion. Jessie had a debonair style, if you have ever seen Superfly then you’ve seen Jessie. His charisma and maturity are matched by none other. He was known as one of the coolest dudes around, he was given the nickname “Top Cat” specifically for his style.

A young Jessie met a mature Karen Floyd at the time with 5 children whom he came to love as his own. In late 1978 Karen gave birth to Jessie’s first child; Joey Marlon Dixon named after one of Jessie’s best friends who passed away. Karen and Jesse also shared a daughter who passed away at just two weeks of age. Together Jessie and Karen built a DJ music empire record by record before separating however, Jesse kept every album and other DJ equipment close to his heart until his passing day.
