Joaquim "Jack" Alves Lopes

Jack Lopes, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of his community, passed away on March 22, 2026, in Brockton, Massachusetts. 

Born on April 20, 1963, in Fogo, Cabo Verde, Joaquim was the beloved son of the late Alberto Vieira Lopes and Eugenia Alves Lopes. He carried with him the strength, values, and traditions of his homeland throughout his life.

Jack was a skilled mechanic and a hardworking entrepreneur who proudly owned and operated Lopes Auto Body. Through his dedication and craftsmanship, he earned the trust and respect of countless customers and friends in the community. He took great pride in his work and found fulfillment in helping others.

Above all, Jack was a family man. He was the loving husband of Sheila Barros and a devoted father to Daniel McClure, Jacqueline Buenrostro, Patrick Lopes, Aisha Lopes, Alisha Lopes, Jayla Lopes, Joaquim Lopes Jr., Jaziel Lopes, Bruno Lopes, Edson Lopes, and Edymara DeBrito. His love extended deeply to his five grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.

He is also survived by his siblings Judith Hodge, Eugenia Miranda, Rosa Rodrigues, Maria Centeio, Alberto Lopes Jr., Eugenia Lopes, and Maria Lopes, along with a host of many other loving relatives and close friends who will miss him dearly.

Jack will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his generosity, and his unwavering love for his family. His presence, guidance, and kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Jack's life at the following services:
Viewing services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at George Lopes Funeral Home, 647 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
Following the service, interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Brockton, Massachusetts.

Though he is no longer with us, Jack Lopes’ memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all those whose lives he touched.
