It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Johnny Bufford who departed this life on April 22, 2026, in Randolph, MA. Johnny was cherished by family, friends, and all who knew him for his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His legacy lives on through the memories shared and the countless lives touched along the way.

Born in Camden, Alabama on April 25, 1943, Johnny grew up surrounded by love and laughter. Throughout his life, he achieved many accomplishments, both personally and professionally, and leaves behind a lasting impact on the community.

Oldest of three siblings Ed, Wince (who predeceased him), and Bennie, along with his brothers relocated to Massachusetts. In 1964 while working at a factory he met and later married his wife, Ruth Lando.

Johnny could often be found performing automotive work not only to his own vehicle but also those of friends and family who deeply depended on him. He was also very dedicated to St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, serving on the Usher Board and as, Chairperson of, The School of Ushering for several years.

Johnny retired from Mass Eye & Ear in 2007 and Mass General Hospital in 2008 after an exceptionally long and distinguished career where he simultaneously worked full time for both hospitals.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Ruth Bufford, sons Cedrick Bufford of Dorchester, MA, and Kevin Bufford of Fall River, MA; and his daughter Pamela F.
