Obituary for the Late Julia Almedia
May 15, 1937 – November 2, 2025
It is with profound sadness that the family of Julia Almedia announces her passing on November 2, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of 88.
Julia was born on May 15, 1937, in Santiago, Cabo Verde, to the late Andrea Smith.
A woman of deep faith, kindness, and quiet strength, Julia dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. As a devoted homemaker, she found joy in the simple, meaningful moments, sharing laughter, preparing meals filled with love, and nurturing those around her with warmth and grace.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jose Lopes, with whom she shared many years of love, partnership, and memories that will forever be cherished.
Julia leaves behind a legacy of love and family that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She is survived by her beloved children: Maria, Gracinha, Bernandino, Louis, Autlindo, Maria Fatima, and Roberto Bernardo. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply but will carry her spirit in their hearts forever.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Julia’s life at her Wake Service on Saturday, November 8, 2025, with the viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, located at 400 Dudley Street, Boston, MA 02119. Interment will follow immediately at Fairview Cemetery, 45 Fairview Ave, Hyde Park, MA 02136.
Though Julia is no longer with us in body, her light, love, and memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
