Kinnie Jones Obituary

Kinnie Kay Jones, son of Clarice Marie Jones and Chalmer Lee Jones, born on January 25, 1968, in Raleigh, North Carolina. He peacefully departed this life on January 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience.

Kinnie attended Jeremiah E. Burke High School and later he transferred to Madison Park High School, where he gained valuable skills in trades such as building and painting. Kinnie’s aspirations led him to enlist in the U.S. Army, where he served honorably. He was stationed at Fort Bragg and spent many years living in North Carolina before his discharge.

Kinnie’s diverse work history reflected his versatility and drive. He worked as a chef and kitchen clerk under the mentorship of his Godfather, “Bob the Chef”, in Boston’s South End. His culinary skills were matched only by his passion for life and laughter. He also worked as a city worker in Newton, MA, and later pursued his love of painting and landscaping by starting his own small business, “Keeping up with the Jones’s Painting and Landscaping.”

A lover of health, fitness, and good food, Kinnie was inspired by the teachings of Dick Gregory and the Muslim faith. His sharp sense of humor, combined with his caring and easygoing nature, made him a friend to all who met him. Whether sharing a meal, cracking a joke, or lending a helping hand, Kinnie’s presence was always a source of joy.

Kinnie was a devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was deeply loved by his family and friends and was known for his unwavering support and kindness. He was a warrior, strong in spirit, and a man of great integrity.

Kinnie is survived by his loving parents, Clarice Marie Jones and Chalmer Lee Jones; his wife, Glendora Bowman-Jones, his children: Dr. Khristianna Jones-Modeste (affectionately known as “Bookie”), Kinnie Kay Jones Jr., stepdaughters, Lakhenya Tillman, Toccara
