Larry Garvin, age 70, of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away on May 28, 2025. Born August 20, 1954, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, to Eddie Gavin and Irene Garvin, Larry's life was filled with love, laughter, and hard work.
He dedicated his early years to G&G, later showcasing his culinary talents as a Chef and Baker at Green & Freeman Bakery, Manager at Howard Johnsons and Lead Chef at the Hilton Grande Hotel.
Larry cherished his Southern roots. Often sharing heartfelt stories of his upbringing. His passions included: cars, coffee, cooking, and classical music; and especially soul music, including artists like Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Al Green, and Bootsie Collins. Above all, Larry loved his family, and he was proud of his children.
A familiar voice as Triple Deuce 9, he loved connecting with others through his CB radio.
Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Irene Garvin, and grandson, Devonte Johnson. Larry is survived by his father, Eddie Gavin and his children, Lorena Garvin, Larry Garvin Jr, Quaknesha Garvin-Johnson. Additional, Larry was a father to Shemere Johnson, Quintin Johnson, Davaughna Johnson, Emanni Moore, Elijah Moore, Shermaine Johnson, and Xavier Siline; numerous grandchildren, Monique Garvin, Jasiah Fabe, Lezaine Garvin, Zyel Garvin, Shawn Michel; his sister, Sarah Mae Garvin; and brothers: Charles, James, Ellis, Jerome, Wesley, Curtis, and Darryl Garvin. Larry will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
