Lionel Houston Jones

Lionel Houston Jones of Newton, age 73, was called Home on the morning of February 5, 2021. He was the son of the late Margaret Jones and Will Jackson, brother to the late William Joseph, Allen Ray, Ruby Carter, Willma Jean and also Julia Woods of Boston and Vera Mae of West Virginia. He was the loving husband to Elizabeth Jones of Newton. Adoring father to Latasha Crawford, Chanel Aguilar, Ashanti Jones, Sean Jones, Monique Jones, Michael Moody. Felicia Moody, Lionell Jones, Jr., Lonnell Jones-Moody, Ian Jones, Jacqueline Jones-Moody, Sienna Jones and stepfather to Amanda Chisolm. Devoted grandfather to Errol, Layla, Julian, Leigha, Charlie, Matthias, Lilly and Lonnell, Jr.  Great grandfather to Jeremiah. Beloved uncle to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Lionel relocated from Braeholm, West Virginia to Boston, Ma in 1960 with his family. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Suffolk Law School in 1971 and from 1973 to 1988, he served as a police officer for the Quincy Police Department   In 2000, he began his 20 year career in human services as a case manager in Boston. Lionel treasured his time that he spent with his family. He loved listening to all music but especially Motown and as an avid sports lover, enjoyed watching his hometown sports teams. Lionel leaves behind a rich legacy filled with many memories for his family and friends.
