It is with profound sadness and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lois “Howdy” Jones, age 70, of Boston, Massachusetts, who peacefully departed this life on July 3, 2026.
Lois was born on January 13, 1956, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Nellie Webb.
The youngest of three children, Lois valued education and earned both her high school diploma and college degree. In her early years, she relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, where she built a life through hard work and determination. Throughout her career, she held several occupations, including truck driver/operator and security guard, always approaching her work with dedication and resilience.
Lois was united in marriage to her beloved husband, the late James Jones, with whom she shared many cherished years. She will be remembered for her warm heart, generous spirit, infectious laughter, and remarkable sense of humor. Lois had a special gift for making people laugh, and her quick wit and joyful personality brought happiness to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and gave selflessly to those in need.
A lover of music, Lois especially enjoyed listening to the timeless classics of The Temptations and the music of Snoop Dogg, which never failed to brighten her day.
Above all else, Lois cherished her family. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild were the pride and joy of her life. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending precious time with her beloved “grand babies.” She was especially proud to witness and celebrate five generations of her family, a blessing she treasured deeply.
In her later years, Lois developed a deep love for the Lord and found comfort, strength, and peace in her faith. Her relationship with God became an important part of her life, providing her with hope and guiding her through life’s journey. Those who knew her witnessed the quiet strength and grace that her faith brought, and she found great comfort in trusting in God’s promises.
Lois leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her devoted children, Speciaal Jones and Willunda Chele Jones; three beloved grandchildren; two cherished great-grandchildren; one precious great-great-grandchild; two loving sisters; cousins; a host of nieces and nephews; and many other loving relatives and dear friends whose lives she touched and who will miss her beyond measure.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in the countless memories of her laughter, kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy of joy, strength, and compassion will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.
Lois was so proud to witness five generations of her family, and we know how deeply she loved us all.
