Mother Margarie Yvonne Buckhannon transitioned to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Margarie was born on August 8, 1947, in St. Stephens, Alabama, to Amos and Marguerite Howell. She was one of five children, which included two older brothers and one older and younger sister.
She graduated with High Honors from Roxbury Community College in 1983. She also received library training from UMass Boston and earned numerous additional certifications in clerical and computer studies.
Mother Buckhannon dedicated over 31 years of service to the Boston Public School system as a paraprofessional and librarian. She also served as an after-school tutor at the Urban League of Boston, where she faithfully supported and encouraged many children throughout their educational journeys.
Prior to meeting her husband, she was blessed with three children. She met Earnest Buckhannon in 1977, and they were united in marriage on November 30, 1996, at Zion Holy Temple. They shared over 29 years of devoted marriage.
In 2000, Mother Buckhannon and her husband joined Greater Victory Temple, Inc., under the leadership of Bishop George W. Swain and the current pastor, Bishop William T. Dirtion. During her years of faithful service, she worked diligently on the Missionary Board, the Usher Board, and assisted on the Pastoral Department. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman of God. She never had to be asked—she simply put her hands to the plow and ensured that everyone and everything was cared for. Her commitment to ministry will truly be missed and never forgotten.
Mother Buckhannon is preceded in death by her parents; three siblings; her son, Isaac Ware, Jr.; and her daughter, Sabrina Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 29 years, Earnest Buckhannon; her daughter, Alecia Renee Ware; her brother, Alfred K. Howell (Ida Howell); her sisters-in-law, Barbara Brookins and Olivia (Terrell); her grandchildren, Christopher, Vanessa, Imani, Brianna, Howard, and Maurice; her beloved spiritual daughter, Lorletta Dirtion (Pam); her godchildren, Lacrinia Joy and William George Dirtion; and a host of nieces, nephews, church family members, and dear friends.
We will forever cherish the many memories shared with our beloved Mother—through church fellowship, family gatherings, and faithful service. Mother Buckhannon will continue to live in our hearts as we await that glorious reunion one day.
