Maria Jesus Fernandes

With heavy hearts, we announce that Maria Jesus Fernandes a.k.a. “Bia” passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, in her home, surrounded by her loved ones. 

She was born on February 2, 1967, in Banga, Angola, to the late Carlos Rodrigues Gomes and Candida Do Canto Lima. 

Her kindness, warmth, and selfless love touched everyone who knew her. A devoted wife, she was the loving widow of Antonio Fernandes, whom she now joins in eternal peace.

She was a kind, thoughtful, and considerate woman who always put her family first. Her life was a reflection of service and devotion. There was nothing she would place before the well-being and happiness of her loved ones. Her warm smile had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and deeply loved.

She had a special gift in the kitchen, and her cooking brought family and friends together around the table. Meals prepared by her hands were more than food, they were expressions of love. Everyone enjoyed being around her, drawn to her gentle spirit and generous heart.

She leaves behind two loving children, Palmira Fernandes and Tony Fernandes, and two cherished grandchildren, Emerald Bia Fernandes and Violet Natalia Fernandes. She is also survived by her four brothers and four sisters, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at George Lopes Funeral Home, 647 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edith Stein Parish Church, 71 East Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301, followed by interment at Melrose Cemetery.
