With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, the family of Maria Martins announces her peaceful passing on October 21, 2025, in Brockton, Massachusetts, at the age of 90.

Born on November 22, 1934, in Fogo, Cabo Verde, Maria was a woman of remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and boundless love. 

Maria was the beloved wife of the late Henrique Martins, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and devotion until his passing four years ago. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, wisdom, and laughter, creating a legacy that will continue through generations.

She leaves behind her loving children, devoted grandchildren, and adoring great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. Maria also leaves her dear siblings and a large extended family who will remember her as a pillar of strength, a source of comfort, and a beacon of love. Her presence in the lives of so many was a gift that will never be forgotten.

Maria's legacy lives on not only in her family but also in the hearts of countless friends and community members who were blessed to know her. Her kindness, grace, and unwavering faith touched all who had the privilege of crossing her path.

Family and friends are invited to honor Maria’s life at a viewing service on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the George Lopes Funeral Home, 647 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Edith Stein Parish, 71 E Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301. Following the service, Maria will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Calvary Cemetery, 163 N Cary Street, Brockton, MA 02301.

Though she is no longer with us in body, Maria's spirit will live on in the love she gave, the memories she leaves behind, and the lives she so deeply touched.
