Maria Monteiro passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2025, surrounded by the love and warmth she spent her lifetime giving to others.
Born on June 11, 1945, in Fogo, Cabo Verde, Maria was the beloved daughter of the late Francisco Depina and Rosalia Depina. From an early age, she carried with her the values of family, faith, hard work, and compassion.
Maria devoted her life to her home and family, spending her later working years as a homemaker. Her home was a place of comfort, care, and unconditional love, a reflection of the woman she was.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Valdemir Monteiro, with whom she shared a deep and enduring bond.
Maria leaves behind her cherished children: Jose Helder Monteiro, Leonor Monteiro, Valdemar Monteiro, Fatima Pires and her grandchildren: Renato Monteiro, Raquel Sequeira, Ines Monteiro, Breanna Ryan, Gianny Pires, Susana Monteiro and Matilde Monteiro, her loving great grandchildren, Nehemiah Morrrero and Khai Jones, along with a host of loving family members and dear friends. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched, the traditions she passed down, and the love she so freely gave. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A viewing service will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at George Lopes Funeral Home, located at 647 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
A Funeral Mass will take place the following day at St. Edith Stein Parish, located at 88 N. Pearl Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
Followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery, 163 N. Cary Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
Maria Monteiro’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a gift that will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
