Marvel Jean Griffin was called to be with our Lord in heaven on June 12, 2024. She was born to Marvella Miner and Younger Rogers in Murphysboro, IL on September 10, 1943.
Jean attended and graduated from Everett High School in Everett, Washington and married Louis James III and to this union they had three children Louis IV, Patricia, and Kenneth. Jean moved back home to Murphysboro, IL and later joined into holy matrimony with Deacon Tobias “Tobe” Griffin to whom she had two children named Michael and Carla.
Jean had a passion for making women look beautiful and pursued her passion by working for Lady Fennel cosmetics. Jean also loved fashion, which later led her to work for high-end fashion stores throughout Boston. Later in her career she was employed by SDM in Salem, NH where she lived with her partner Bennie Dawson. Jean retired early from SDM to help raise her grandchildren (Lakenya, Tahira, India), and ended her career with Interior Design and managing her cleaning business, “Jeanie in the bucket”, with clients who loved and appreciated her. Jean proudly became a member of New Life Community Outreach Church of GOD in Christ where her brother Anthony Rogers was the Pastor and she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior!
