Mary Gomes

Mary Rodrigues Gomes, 86, of Brockton, MA passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.

Mary was born on May 15, 1934 in Fogo, Cape Verde. She was a daughter of Benjamin Rodrigues, a U.S.A. World War I Army Veteran.

Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and wife of Augusto Lopes. Mary was known as one of the best persons to crochet baby blankets for her family and friends. Mary was a great cook. She was known as a great worker and retired with honors from the Polaroid Corporation.

She is survived by her three children, a daughter Anna Gomes - Ford and her husband Curtis Ford of New Braunfels, TX, son, Joseph Gomes of Brockton, MA and his wife Rosalina, and a daughter Mina Soares of Hanover, MD. She leaves her 13 grandchildren. They include Idalina Gomes and Jamal, Tamarah, Moriah, and Elijah Pinto, and Benjamin, Richard, Tanita, Deric Gomes, and Renita Granberry, and Kiyeeda, Niani and Idalina Ford. In addition to that, she leaves behind numerous great grandchildren.

She also leaves a sister Hilda Gomes and her husband Alberto Gomes of Pawtucket, RI.

Mary is pre-deceased by her children Benjamin Gomes, Richard Gomes and Mary Pinto. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Peter Rodrigues, Antonio Rodrigues, Hugo Rodrigues and Jose Rodrigues.
