Mozil Kyle Obituary

Mozil Odessa Kyle was a native of Louisburg, North Carolina, and the youngest of eight children born to Mozel White and Lewis Hobgood. She was raised in North Carolina until the age of 11, when her mother passed away. Mozil and her nephew, Melvin, first traveled to New York City to live with her brother, Fred, before continuing to Boston, Massachusetts, where they lived with her sister, Cora Bullock.

Mozil was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School in 1968. She attended Boston College School of Nursing for one year before marrying and beginning her professional career with the Gillette Company in its toiletries division. When the division relocated to Andover, Massachusetts, Mozil remained in Boston and soon began what would become a 24-year career with New England Telephone Company.

During her career with the telephone company, Mozil advanced from a 411 information operator to the Residential Business Office, where she eventually became a manager. As the company evolved from New England Telephone to Nynex and expanded its business interests, Mozil continued to grow professionally. She worked in the Professional Division of Nynex, maintaining personal online email accounts and assisting with password resets. During this time, she met her husband Frank Theodore Kyle. Following several management-plan layoffs, she retired from Nynex in December 1995.

In 1987, Mozil united with Concord Baptist Church of Boston and became deeply involved in the life and ministry of the church. She served in the Music Ministry as a member of the Concord Chorale and Jeter Choirs and assisted Mother Bernie Brown with the Children for Christ Choir, helping maintain robe assignments for the 108-member choir. She also served as a Trustee.

In May 1996, following the retirement of the Pastor’s Office Manager, Mozil was recommended for the position and accepted the role of Office Administrator to the Pastor. What began as a part-time position soon became full-time. From 1996 until her retirement in January 2020, Mozil served under Reverend Dr. Conley Hughes, Jr., managing the Pastor’s Office and clerical personnel while becoming knowledgeable in virtually every aspect of church operations.

Throughout her years of service, Mozil took on numerous responsibilities, including proofreading and preparing church publications, coordinating vendors and supplies, maintaining membership information, coordinating weddings, producing the annual meeting book, assisting with funeral arrangements and obituaries, and organizing parking and staffing for church events. She also helped facilitate the transition of the church’s telephone services during its move from Warren Avenue in Boston to its current location on Blue Hill Avenue in Milton.

Mozil is the proud mother of two children, Khary and Katrina, and grandmother of six: Kyeem, Kamaiya, Alahni, Analisa, Ayden, and Avion.

Reflecting on her years of service, Mozil expresses gratitude for the relationships she developed within the church and for the opportunity to bring the skills and experiences from her professional career into her ministry. She recognizes that not every path was easy, but through every challenge, she believes that God paved the way and ordered her footsteps.

Her testimony is beautifully summed up in her words: “I praise my God from whom all blessings flow.” Truly, when praises go up, blessings come down.
