With profound sorrow and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, the family of Natercia Silva Fernandes announces her peaceful passing on December 4, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Born on December 16, 1936, in Praia, Cabo Verde, Natercia carried the warmth, resilience, and spirit of her homeland throughout her 88 years of life.
Natercia devoted her final working years to the role she cherished most serving as a homemaker. Her home was a place of open doors, shared meals, laughter, and unshakeable love. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcomed and cared for, and her legacy of generosity and compassion will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
She leaves behind a powerful legacy through her large and loving family: 8 children, 21 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Natercia’s love was vast, unconditional, and steadfast, touching countless lives across generations.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents and her dear son, Jose Carlos Varela, with whom she is now reunited.
