Sam Taiste

On Monday, September 30, 2024, the Lord God Almighty sent His angel of mercy to grant our beloved Sam Taiste peace at last. Sam was born on December 3, 1943, in Eutaville, South Carolina, to the late Louise Taiste. He was preceded in death by his partner of 45 years, Brenda Chambliss, and his daughters, Paige and Kimberley Chambliss. He was also preceded by his brother, Elijah Taiste, and sister-in-law, Rose Taiste.

Sam graduated from Robert High School and had a long career as a commercial bus driver for Crystal Transportation and Peter Pan Transportation.

A passionate New England sports fan, Sam loved watching the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and New England Patriots. He also enjoyed attending drag races in New Hampshire.

Sam cherished spending time with his family and friends, often playing cards and dominoes. His favorite holiday was the Fourth of July, in which he delighted in the fireworks displays and the annual neighborhood fireworks wars.

He is survived by his daughters, Nicole Chambliss, Kelley Chambliss, Lakia Chambliss, Zakia Hunter, and Sandra Sullivan; his sons, Troy Askew, Brent Chambliss, and Brian Chambliss; his brother-in-law, John Thomas; and his sister-in-law, Rosalyn Thomas. He leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and the many people's lives who he has touched.
