Sharon Lavern Gooding affectionately known as Shay was born on May 4, 1968 to Mildred G. Gooding (deceased) and Darius L. Gooding (deceased) in Boston MA. She grew up in the city with her two older sisters Barbara Gooding and Jackie Gooding (deceased) and her younger brother Andre Gooding.
Sharon attended Boston public schools and while learning she also played varsity point guard on the basketball team all four years of high school. She then graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1986. Soon after graduating Sharon began her extensive 30 plus year career working for the Commonwealth of MA.
In 1993, Sharon and Marc Alexander welcomed their pride and joy, Myles Brandon Alexander into the world, a moment that began Sharon’s cherished journey as a mother. She was the arms that wrapped around him when the world felt too big and the first voice that told him he was enough before he ever proved anything. In 2016 Sharon became an army mom and she couldn’t wait to tell the whole world how proud she was of him and his accomplishments.
Sharon’s love for her family and friends was unconditional. Her laughter could fill up a room and she sure knew how to get down on the dance floor. She had a gift in the kitchen, pouring her heart into every meal that could nourish any soul.
Sharon always loved to read. In 2017 her passion for reading grew into a book club called Diva’s Read About It. The book club included Sharon, Jessica, Nikki, Rowena, Carol, Dina and Belinda. Their book club met once a month for jokes, laughs, food and a good cup of wine.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Myles Alexander, sister Barbara Gooding, brother Andre Gooding, her nephews Kenny Ryland Jr., DreShawn Gooding, Kendrick Green and her nieces Andrea Gooding, Alexis Gooding, Kaylynn Gooding and Shequel Williams. Her great grand nephews Jordan Ware, Kameron Green, Carter Williams, and her loved ones from the Hall family Rowena Hall, Herb Hall, Herbert Hall, Brian Hall. Let's not forget her childhood friends The Golden Girls: Carol, Michelle, Toby and Tanya.
