Stella Tate

Stella Tate (Jones) was born on January 14, 1927, in Simpson County, Mississippi.

Stella was the sixth of sixteen children born to the late William Zachariah Jones and Lizzie (Hayes) Jones.

Stella met and married Henry Tate, and together they welcomed four children: Eugene, Darlene, Jesse, and Christene. Stella dedicated herself to raising her own children, as well as countless relatives and neighborhood children, providing guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. Stella's home was a place where family gathered to share meals, celebrate milestones, and find comfort during difficult times.

Stella believed deeply in the importance of family and was known for her wisdom, warm spirit, and generous heart. Throughout her 99 years, Stella witnessed tremendous changes in the world, yet she remained steadfast in the values that mattered most: faith, family, perseverance, dignity, and love. Her life stands as a testament to dedication, grace, and enduring strength.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Henry; her children, Eugene and Christene; her great-grandson, Raekwuan Jenkins; and all fifteen of her siblings.

Stella leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Darlene; her son, Jesse (Thelma); 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

The legacy Stella leaves behind lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family, and the many lives she touched. She will be remembered not only for the years she lived, but for the love she shared, the lessons she taught, and the strong family foundation she helped build
