Theron Fulgham Obituary

Theron "Doc" Fulgham, born on November 23, 1945, in Birmingham, AL, was a beloved individual whose life was marked by love, family, and a fulfilling career. He passed away on January 16, 2024, at the age of 78 in Brockton, MA, the city he called home.

Theron was the son of Sandy Sumerlin Sr. and Willodean Fulgham Sumerlin. Growing up, he had a close-knit family, including his Uncle Jerry Fulgham and Aunt Jeanne Rempson.

Theron's siblings played significant roles in his life. He is survived by his oldest sister Willie Mae Richardson, of Connecticut, Maggie Robbins (married to Clifton Robbins) of Massachusetts, Michael Sumerlin (married to Yvonne Sumerlin) of Alabama, Odell Sumerlin (married to Felicia Sumerlin), of Alabama, Samuel Sumerlin (married to Miranda Sumerlin) of Alabama and Debra Sumerlin of Alabama. Sadly, he was preceded in death by siblings Sandy Jr. Sumerlin, Roosevelt Tucker, Maretta Johnson, Elaine Brown, and Ezetta Fulgham.

In addition to his siblings, Theron leaves behind a legacy through his children. He was a proud father to Theronda Samuel (married to Tony Samuel) of Massachusetts, Theron Fulgham of New Hampshire, Dena Vicente (married to Joseph Vicente) of Massachusetts, Nakeya Fulgham of Massachusetts, and Rochelle Woodruff of Alabama. Each of his children and grandchildren has brought joy and love into Theron's life. His grandchildren are Curtis Fulgham, Kelin Fulgham, Noah, Fulgham, Denzel Torres, Zyler Vicente, Ava Carver, and Theron “TJ” Fulgham. Theron had one great-grandchild, Aaliviah Fulgham.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Sara Burrel-Fulgham. Surviving him are also his loyal and supportive friend, Pablo Figueroa, a host of nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

Theron attended Westfield High School in Birmingham, AL, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of accomplishments. He pursued a career as a truck driver, dedicating over 20 years to this profession. Theron worked with Arco Oil company for several years before retiring.

Theron's warm character and infectious personality made him the light of every room. He loved being with family and friends, and took interest in trips to the casino, dressing in his finest, singing, and dancing. Theron's presence left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered, and his memory will be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

In his later years, Theron found joy in the company of his children and grandchildren. His legacy lives on through the values he instilled in his family and the memories they shared together.
