Tommie Dailey (Lonnie) was born to the late Willie Mae Dailey (Anthony) and the late John Mack Dailey on July 20, 1954. In Mobile, Alabama.
Lonnie was a notable student at Robertsdale High School, where he excelled in basketball during his academic tenure and continued playing for years. He participated in community teams and had a deep-seated passion for motorcycles, frequently taking his children on rides and teaching his daughters how to drive them.
Lonnie loved all his children unconditionally. He shared a special and unbreakable bond with his son Tommie. Lonnie was a truly inspiring individual, recognized for his generous spirit and willingness to assist others.
Following his separation from his first wife, Betty Jo, Lonnie made the difficult decision to relocate to Boston, MA, to rebuild his life and join his brothers, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond.
Although Lonnie resided in Boston for many years, Lonnie never lost sight of his hometown roots, spreading joy and warmth through his remarkable southern hospitality, especially when he cooked. Lonnie's cooking skills were renowned, particularly his delicious greens.
Although teaching driving was not his profession, Lonnie was a natural driving instructor, taking great pride in empowering individuals to become confident drivers. When his youngest child, Dominique, was taking her road test, Lonnie nearly caused her to fail due to his incessant talking, saying 'I've taught you well' and 'Take your time, baby.'
Lonnie was a phenomenal man with a remarkable sense of humor, often humorous even when unintentional, with a Southern personality that could leave one in stitches with his remarks.
Lonnie worked at Nursing home where he met Anita. Their friendship blossomed into a beautiful love story, resulting in marriage.
Lonnie was a dedicated husband, father, brother, uncle, and loyal friend. His beautiful spirit and loving energy made everyone want to be around him. He said what he meant and meant what he said. He was kind, friendly, giving, caring, upbeat and always loving. He was the life of at family gatherings.
We will miss that laugh and the singing concerts he put on for the family. No one could sing like Lonnie.
Lonnie departed his life at Mass General Hospital on May 14, with his daughter Dominique by his side.
Lonnie preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Carnell Holmes, and his brothers John Edward Dailey, Douglas Dailey, Bobby Dailey.
Devoted wife Anita Lindsey-Dailey survives Lonnie, his brothers, Charles Mildred) Dailey, Benny (Dorothy) Dailey, and Robin Dailey all of Boston. Willie Mac Dailey, and Rickey Dailey of Alabama. Sisters Flora Jean Rankin, Alice Marie Williams, and Bernadean James all of Alabama.
His daughters Tyron Hoskins of Alabama, Dominique Haymon of Boston. His son Tommie Dailey, Jr. and his bonus son Alric Lindsey both of Boston.
His grandchildren Kennedy Hoskins of Alabama, Quinton, and Roneisha Dailey of Boston. Maliyah, Kelcee, Massiah and King Daise of Boston. Ciera Lindsey of North Carolina and Avery Lindsey of Boston, and one great granddaughter Riley Holmes, of Alamba and Goddaughter Tianna Hill of Boston and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
