Ubaldo Lopes

Ubaldo Lopes (72), a respected lawyer and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family. 

Born on May 21, 1953, in Fogo, Cabo Verde, Ubaldo was the son of Roque Lopes and Maria Cecilia Lopes. He pursued his education with dedication, ultimately earning a doctoral degree in law and establishing a distinguished career as an attorney. His legal work was known for its integrity and compassion, and his legacy of justice and advocacy will be remembered by many.

Ubaldo was also a revered community figure in his homeland, with the mayor of Mosteiros, Fábio Vieira, noting that his departure leaves the community "poorer". Colleagues, friends, and former students from Fogo expressed their condolences online, remembering his impact in the classroom and the courtroom.

A dedicated family man, Ubaldo leaves behind his cherished wife, Luisa Lopes, and their children: Lucio Lopes, Amilton Lopes, Vany Lopes, Patrick Brandao, Milka Lopes, and Mackayla Lopes. He also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren and a large extended family and circle of friends who will deeply miss his warmth and guidance.

Visitation for Ubaldo Lopes will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, from 5:00PM - 8:00PM located at the George Lopes Funeral Home, 647 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301.

Disposition will take place in his homeland of Fogo, Cabo Verde at a later date.
