With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished Vera May Wiggins of Springfield, Massachusetts, on August 31st, 2025.
Vera May Wiggins was born on May 27, 1972, in Boston, Massachusetts to Willie B. Wiggins Jr. and Rebecca Lynn Wiggins.
How do you put into words just how much Vera’s life meant? Vera’s life can best be encapsulated by four "F" words: Family, Friends, Food, and Fun. In her 53 years here with us, she experienced an abundance of each. Vera spent her early years in Boston, Massachusetts, growing up with her parents and six siblings. She later moved to Springfield, Massachusetts, after starting a family of her own.
Vera May Wiggins leaves behind to cherish her memory, her parents Willie B. Wiggins Jr. and Rebecca Lynn Wiggins, children Shawntaya Wiggins, Michael Wiggins, Calvin Wiggins, JaVaughan Wiggins, and Rebecca Wiggins, sister Melissa Wiggins, Diane Wiggins-White, Willie Wiggins, Paul Wiggins, Nathanael Wiggins, Steven Wiggins, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and close friends.
Although she had five children, the ultimate glory for Vera was the arrival of her eleven grandchildren. Vera loved raising her children, but she loved her grandchildren just as much, if not more. Vera treasured her friendships, which she developed at various stages of her life, with the majority lasting the rest of her life.
Vera was known not just for enjoying her friendships but for being a good friend as well. Vera enjoyed creating tasty meals to share with her family and friends while enjoying her music! Whether it was a family dinner or an impromptu cookout, it was a joy to be in Vera’s presence, she appreciated all that life had given her.
Her commitment to her family was unwavering, and she was an inspiration to all who knew her. We find comfort in knowing that Vera’s legacy lives on and the memories will be cherished forever.
